In a recent press statement, Alcatel Lucent, a global player in the telecommunictions sector announced that they have recently signed the global frame agreement with the Telenor Group, one of the world’s largest mobile telecommunications service providers. The agreement makes Alcatel-Lucent a candidate provider for 4G LTE networks across Telenor’s 13 subsidiaries operating in Europe and Asia.
With the agreement in place, Alcatel will now be providing Telenor subsidiaries its leading 4G LTE Overlay solution as an alternative to single RAN deployment which enables operators to deploy 4G networks faster and more cost effectively with the ability to roll out LTE services over the top of existing mobile infrastructure without the need for time-consuming equipment upgrades. According to Alcatel, their solution and the signing of this agreement will assist Telenor to address the growth envisaged for LTE across the globe as the rise in the content consumption and proliferation of smart mobile devices drive the demand for high capacity and efficient mobile networks. The agreement also covers Alcatel-Lucent’s 4G LTE Radio Access Network and the 5620 Service Aware Manager solutions.
“We are very pleased with this agreement where Alcatel-Lucent are providing our subsidiaries with an attractive opportunity to forcefully adopt the rapidly evolving 4G LTE technology. This agreement directly supports our strategy for the coming years and will provide Telenor’s customers with the best possible customer experience delivered by the most efficient and robust network technology and architecture.”
– Hilde Tonne, Executive Vice President, Group Industrial Development, Telenor Group
“This agreement underlines the strength of relationship Alcatel-Lucent enjoys with Telenor, and the relevance of its expertise and focus on ultra-broadband access technology. The agreement clears the path for us to enter negotiations on our 4G LTE overlay solution with Telenor’s subsidiaries throughout Europe and Asia, and follows a number of other major agreements we have made with Telenor over the last few years which have included small cells, IP transport and mobile video product solutions.”
